Families and Children of Emergency Services

Helping Wounded Hearts Heal is an initiative that supports first responders and military families following a tragic loss to line of duty death, suicide, or to a psychological injury of a member. Since 2011, the Canadian Critical Incident Stress Foundation (CCISF) has been providing critical and necessary resources to families of fallen and those families impacted by PTSD.

As the only national charity in Canada that provides these services to our families, we are honoured to offer, under our F.A.C.E.S (Family and Children of Emergency Services) umbrella, programs such as our Camp F.A.C.E.S Bereavement Support Camp, and our Camp F.A.C.E.S PTSD Family Retreat weekends. In doing so, we are able to bring families together in a safe and encouraging environment, offering effective coping strategies and connections. 

Initiatives such as our Bereavement Support camp, our PTSD Family Retreats, and our Christmas Gift of Giving, allow us to provide our families with a sense of understanding, a sense of belonging, and the necessary support they need in these very complex and devastating times.

In order to sustain these initiatives, we rely heavily on the generosity of individuals and organizations, who recognize the importance and value these endeavors provide. We can do this, but..
